It's Greek to Me Tzatziki

By Adam Jenkins

This easy tzatziki starts with thick Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, and It’s Greek To Me, our Mediterranean Greek seasoning. Serve it as a dip, spoon it over grilled chicken or lamb, or spread it into bowls and wraps.

A little backstory

Tzatziki has been around for centuries, rooted in Greek and Eastern Mediterranean cooking. At its core, it’s a cooling yogurt-based sauce made to balance bold, grilled foods. Think hot lamb, chicken fresh off the grill, crispy potatoes, or warm pita. The creamy yogurt cools things down, cucumber adds freshness, and herbs bring everything together. It’s simple food, meant to be shared, scooped, and enjoyed without fuss.

Over time, tzatziki became one of those staples you’ll find everywhere in Greece – from family tables to neighborhood tavernas. It’s used as a dip, a sauce, or even a spread, depending on the meal. What makes it special is how adaptable it is. You can keep it traditional or tweak it slightly and it still works. That’s where It’s Greek to Me really shines – it brings oregano, dill, garlic, and warm Mediterranean spices together in a way that saves time without losing that classic flavor.

Ingredients

  • 16oz plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 2–3 teaspoons It’s Greek to Me seasoning (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1–2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)

Directions

  1. Grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. This keeps the tzatziki thick and creamy.
  2. In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, cucumber, lemon juice, and It’s Greek to Me seasoning.
  3. Stir until smooth. Drizzle in olive oil if using and mix again.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Chill for 15–30 minutes if you have the time… it lets the flavors settle in nicely.
  6. Serve with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, pita, or as a fresh sauce for bowls and wraps.
